Jesus And The Peace Argument

Prophetic/Timing Arguments

Why do Timing Arguments Matter?

Timing arguments matter because they show God's perfect knowledge and intelligience. If God really did visit the earth in human form it would be prudent for him to choose an efficient timing to appear to us. In order to act most efficiently with free humans, he would have to appear in the perfect timing to get his message across, if Jesus passes this test, that serves as evidence for Jesus being God.

              Roman Peace

If God wanted to spread his message most effectively in the world, he would likely pick a time period and area that wasn’t constantly in war. This is because a nation that would be conquered would be forced to adopt cultural traditions and religions. His message could be snuffed out like a flame if the place of origin was conquered before it could spread across the world.

27 BCE - 180 CE: During these years, most of the known world was unified under the Roman Empire. Many of the different nations who had been warring with each other in the past were now unified under a common rule, and this made it so a large portion of human civilization was now at peace with each other. This would provide the necessary protection of a religion to thrive in a large area.

New religions and old religions could also be practiced in the Roman Empire due to the time known as the “Pax Romana”. It allowed people to retain their customs and religions as long as they paid a tax to the Roman Empire.

Since this time period Jesus was born into offered suitable protection for his message to be heard, due to the absence of wars within the Roman Empire and the religious freedom Pax Romana offered; this was the perfect time period for his message to be heard and to spread across the world. We can see this as divine intelligience, and therefore can attribute God working for himself in the person of Jesus at the incarnation.
